IUE Folk Dances Club was founded in 2001-2002 Academic year when Izmir University of Economics, the first foundation university established by the chambers in Turkey, started education. The club performed its first dance with Zeibek at the 1st Spring Festival of IUE. After this, the club took its place in the forefront at the all Academic Year Opening ceremonies and Establishment Anniversaries, Spring Festivals and other eligible organizations of the Izmir University of Economics, and gave presents emphasizing cultural symbols to high level protocol such as presidents, ministers etc. in the organizations.

Dance Types

The Turks migrating from Central Asia to Anatolia adopted different dances differing from one region to another by centuries as they moved to different continents. The Folk Dance Club of IUE managed to embody the performances of these different dances. Different performances from the regions such as Aegean, Black Sea, Thrace, Central Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia Regions. A different visual quality was achieved with the modern integration of the regions in the show of Sultans of the Economics (Halay)
