HORON
The Turks came across a nature they were familiar with when they settled down in Eastern Black Sea region which is a very rough, steep and mountainous region. Moreover, the rough sea with wild waves breaks over the region entirely in the north. Thus, the traditional folk dances of the people struggling within such a nature with these cruel features originates from this lifestyle.
“Gagauz Turks” entitle the folk dances performed in the weddings in Romania as “horon”. It is remarkable that this folk dance is observed among the ancient Bulgar and Pecheneg Turks. Some places in Erzincan, Malatya, Siirt and Afyon are also called as ''Horon''.
